Where is best for used car parts Bolton?

The summer is upon us and even though it's not like a normal summer given this crazy year many of us will be planning longer road trips.

Golf anyone?

Staycations are going to be extremely popular in the wake of Covid-19 and that's going to mean trips to the coast and popular tourists resorts.

As the scout motto goes ,'be prepared' and that's certainly the case when it comes to a longer car journey.

"You should always put time, thought and preparation into long car journeys," said Scrappers bossman Terry Walker.

"It sounds a bit negative, but being prepared for the worst means you are ready should anything go wrong. A flat tyre, breaking down, or a traffic jam for example."

So here without further ado are the key measures to take to ensure you're prepared for the long road ahead:

Eating & sleeping - Get a good night's sleep, at least eight hours if you can, and a hearty meal inside you. Hunger and tiredness are never a good recipe for driving.

Take breaks - Every couple of hours you need to take a break, stretch your legs, grab a snack, have a drink and use the toilet. You'll feel fresh and ready to set off again.

Sort your calls - Make any calls you need to before setting off. You don't want distractions while you're behind the wheel. Set your phone to driving mode so no one bothers you and you're focusing  on the job in hand.

Plan your route - There's nothing worse than getting lost. Plan your journey to a T taking into account any roadworks or severe weather conditions.

Share the driving - Where possible take turns so it's not all on you.

Familiarise yourself with the vehicle - If you're in a rental car, get acquainted with it before you set off.

Check - Do your checking, ensure everything is running well and tyres have the right amount of air in them.

Fuel up - Make sure your tank is full, you'd be surprised how many motorists run out of petrol or diesel when they're on a long journey.

So there you have it, ways to prepare for the journey ahead.

And remember, if your car isn't up to scratch, it may be time to trade it in, sell or scrap it!

And who can help you? The Scrappers can! We will take any car off your hands and you'll always be paid the best price for a scrap vehicle.
